About Mark Hill

Mark Hill came to Britain from Iran in 1989. He was immediately taken to a detention centre, which he loved, as it was much nicer than the Iraqi prison where he had formerly been held.

However, when he was taken back to the airport, he nearly died of fright and he was very happy the next day to see the detention centre again.

After some time, he was released to a friend's house, then to a hostel in Brixton where he was not allowed any visitors. When his brother came to visit him from Belgium, he had to sleep in the street. He then spent six months in a psychiatric hospital, grappling with what had happened to him in Iraq.

Since this time, Mark has gained a university degree in maths and computing. He now has a young son, and has written two novels in Farsi. da
